It blows away all partitions on the drive then creates a single partition as exFAT with the name "TESLADRIVE". Also confirmed, that "Format USB Drive" does exactly as it says on the tin. I was able to play music and verified that at least sentrycam recorded something.
Both the dashcam and music partitions were exFAT.
